Charitable Donation Appraisals
Have you donated a valuable item within the current tax year? Or, are you in the process of donating the item?
If the answer to either question is "yes", it is in your best interest to obtain a written, formal appraisal for your art, antiques, furniture, or other items of value, in addition to working with your tax advisor. Since 2002, Kurt Shaw & Co. has appraised a wide variety of items for charitable donation for institutions and individuals.
Here's what to expect:
• A qualified appraiser will be on-site in your home or business to appraise the personal property
• A formal, written appraisal in the form of a report which includes a written inventory of the personal property with the approximate fair market values listed
• The report will comply to then current USPAP standards and requirements
• The appraiser will complete and sign IRS Form 8283, as required
